Yep, it's freeware, and very good freeware at that. It's got a path tool and a tapered pen, which is what I like the most.
45 . by: October 17, 2017, 3:38 pm

Yeah, isn't Medibang free? Or am I thinking of the wrong product...
44 . by: October 16, 2017, 6:32 pm

Ditch Photoshop, use Medibang/FireAlpaca.
43 . by: October 16, 2017, 3:50 pm

Can you make a 1 px brush in photoshop instead of using the pencil tool? What version photoshop is it? (Maybe I can do it and send it to you?)
42 . by: October 16, 2017, 3:34 pm

@41, I have a hard time imagining lapping up things like Vodka.
41 . by: October 16, 2017, 10:11 am

I like the kind of "shots" way of drinking alcohol that mustelids do in this story. I think if I was to draw it I would have just had them lapping it out of the cup, but them throwing their head back and drinking it all at once has so much more character.
40 . by: October 16, 2017, 6:31 am

The white thing is a cup she's using to drink. Everything that touches Fig becomes white, same as her.
39 . by: Blazic October 16, 2017, 5:58 am

Okay, so, what actually is the white thing coming out of Fig's mouth in the third-last panel? Does anyone know?

Also, hey there, I'm planning on getting all the books but need money :<
38 . by: Zack October 15, 2017, 1:38 pm

Hi,

I did consider it, long ago. I think that's the reason the "Draw" link is at the top of the page. But there was something with the way the 777 file-writing permissions interfaced with my particular host that I could never resolve. Then, it was just too much of a handful. I left it alone, because Paint BBS could still be used, at least.
37 . by: October 15, 2017, 11:25 am

Ever consider hosting an oekaki? You could probably make a Patreon tier for the that..!
36 . by: Zack October 14, 2017, 2:40 pm

Hi commentator 24,

In order to add on to a finished drawing in Paint BBS, the Paint BBS application must be hooked up to a database system, which it isn't here on the NofNA website. There would be a button around the bulletin called "Retouch" which would load up all of the strokes made in the application. (This is another interesting feature of Paint BBS: painting playback.)

Here, I just added in the strangler fig collar with Photoshop's annoying Pencil.

Furrama,

The Secretary addendum should be available soon; I received word that my printed proofs were just shipped to me yesterday. Then the electronic version and the printed version can go on sale at the same time. Patreon patrons received the electronic version early, since they essentially funded its completion.
35 . by: October 14, 2017, 9:16 am

I definitely second Secretary' and the 10%+ addendum! From what I've seen in the comments debating instinct/reflex and society, the addendum in particular gives some insight on what life in the wild is like, and how it relates to society. Tortoise and the Hare is a cool (hand-drawn!) story that also lets us take a closer look at the creation process for styles.
34 . by: Picanco October 14, 2017, 7:59 am

The collection of Wild Style has extra stuff too, but I haven't purchased that one. I want it though. The Tortoise and the Hare is definitely worth $5!
33 . by: Picanco October 14, 2017, 7:51 am

Furrama, you want Secretary' (Prime) for extra awesomeness (and the Addendums). And it's well worth it. I have pretty much every collection and they look great in print and the extra stuff just gives you that excited feeling all over again that makes you feverishly refresh the comments to see what others think haha. I sat and read the whole Secretary Addendum in one go when it came out, it's beautiful. Reread a good portion of it right after too!
32 . by: Furrama October 14, 2017, 3:29 am

Ok, so the 10%+ Addendum, the Secretary Addendum (when available), and Secretary, The Complete Edition, those have all the offline extra juicy story bits right?
31 . by: Furrama October 14, 2017, 3:23 am

Up, nm, I found the link in your store, doy.
30 . by: Furrama October 14, 2017, 3:21 am

Oh, hey Zack, can you let us know in the log when the Secretary Addendum is available for us non patron scum (meeeee)? *Makes grabby raccoon fingers*

Also, Witticaster made you a fanart on Tumblr and it linked off to a digital version of Secretary, does that one have the different ending? It's not in your store up there.

(In other words: I think I can buy stuff, where's all the paywall material you got I don't wanna miss anything.)
29 . by: K October 13, 2017, 8:40 pm

@26 to add, I think greenie really nailed the lightening "all I had to do was think of my past" because he was on the receiving end of 'control' he knew how to inflict on to others when he was finally in control maybe?

Also wonder if that is alcohol, why she bee lined for it? Do the girls get access to booze? Does it assist in art making ? It's also not hers lol..
28 . by: Dani October 13, 2017, 8:13 pm

@22 -- Agreed! Would be a cool encounter if it happens. All good if it doesn't though :).

In general, I love keeping up with this story. I have read 10%+, Lycosa, and Secretary so far, but this one I have been able to connect with the most. I love reading new pages and comments at work with some coffee. Thanks Zach and you guys for making the daily grind a little more pleasant :)!

@25 After seeing Greenie remote control a node to knock out RG, I'm starting to double-guess myself! I used to think it was half-placebo, half-alembic, but I'm having second thoughts about it now. Kinda weird how adept Greenie's become at using concepts in the name of control, when earlier on in the comic he refused to take XX's abstract art seriously. Maybe he implicitly understood that her art, either in its concept or in her dedication to it, was opposed to the ideas he derives control from.

I have to wonder if the collar truly will strangle the courtesans if they think about leaving the brothel for good, or if it's the fear that it *might* happen holding them back.
24 . by: October 13, 2017, 4:00 pm

Hi Zack, how hard is it to add things like that to a scene with the program you're using? For some reason I can't get it to work, so I can't fathom what its like.
23 . by: October 13, 2017, 2:49 pm

Well, he's screwed.

(Get it?????)
22 . by: October 13, 2017, 1:10 pm

I wonder if we'll ever see Fig meet these other abstract artists in person? That would be great to see! I think it would really refresh her perspective, although she's still so caught up in the idea of absolute rejection from society.
21 . by: October 13, 2017, 12:29 pm

Fig's all 'cool abstract art' until she sees her own piece.

(wtg, silly, drinking his booze)
20 . by: Furrama October 13, 2017, 12:18 pm

Heh, the scar returns too.
19 . by: Dani October 13, 2017, 11:18 am

Lol Fig, how rude!
18 . by: Zack October 13, 2017, 10:10 am

Hi,

Fig's strangler fig collar was definitely missing. Thank you for the correction.
17 . by: October 13, 2017, 8:23 am

It's symbolic. The collar is only in her mind.

(don't worry about it - get some rest, Zach!)

@15 I'm reminded of that one Invader Zim episode where two characters are supposed to be screaming at each other from across the highway, only the animators forgot the put in the cars.

"make yourself at home" is also "yes you can have my booze"
15 . by: October 13, 2017, 4:50 am

don't professional animators even forget a thing in one scene?
14 . by: Juna October 13, 2017, 2:14 am

Judging from the art XX's peeping, it looks like other artists are beginning to converge on XX's approach to meaning. Then there's her portrait of Pomelo with a spot that's darker than I remember it.

@11 It's a thing about XX's White. Even objects she puts on herself get washed out as long as they're attached, or in this case, held in her mouth.
13 . by: October 13, 2017, 1:28 am

the collar is right there. you guys have too high denial!!!
12 . by: October 13, 2017, 12:47 am

Wonder if it's an aphrodisiac?
11 . by: October 13, 2017, 12:43 am

Shouldn't the glass be colored in the second panel on the last row?

anyhow I like him taking off his corsage because he's at home, its a nice touch.
10 . by: Kai October 13, 2017, 12:37 am

I agree to give Zack a break. No need to fix it, we know you're working super hard.
9 . by: Furrama October 12, 2017, 11:57 pm

We could let Zack off the hook. We could all just agree it's there and it will just pop back into existence next page.
8 . by: ItPierces October 12, 2017, 10:45 pm

Hello, Pomelo.
7 . by: October 12, 2017, 10:41 pm

RIP Zack
6 . by: October 12, 2017, 10:41 pm

RIP Zack is overworked.
5 . by: October 12, 2017, 10:40 pm

ooo the collar is a big change rip zack haha.

I thought Fig would be happier about all the neat art :( well, maybe it's almost entirely Fig rather than XX right now.
4 . by: Furrama October 12, 2017, 10:31 pm

Yeah, it's the same alcohol that Scruffy sent Smoothie a five pages back.
3 . by: October 12, 2017, 10:01 pm

Uh oh, is Fig drinking alcohol?
2 . by: October 12, 2017, 10:00 pm

Neck so long you can't hold your glass while u drink
1 . by: Furrama October 12, 2017, 9:57 pm

Um. Fig's collar is missing.
