Eeeh people say green is wrong for firing cherry, but what do you think happens if you can't do your job well? Employers don't care about your situation, they want people who can make them money. And making money is the point of a business.

He definitely went about firing cherry in the wrong way, though. That's what makes me dislike him. How he handles situations in a negative way.

Greenie looks like someone DNA spliced Batman and the Green Goblin with a Ferengi.

That lightning ball looks very similar in shape to the fruit womb on page 121

Dang, Green's gotten corpulent on all that booze. Maybe he'll do himself in with liver disease.

You'd think someone who's been abused would break the cycle, but no... it's difficult, because part of you wants your "turn" at the wheel. We got rights for minorities, and they turned around and stomped on gay people, without once thinking about how they're perpetuating the cycle.

Not speaking from direct experience, but look at America's (and Britain's) current political climate--poor people will believe that their lives are better as long as someone else has it worse.

Anyway Ašai bite his fool head off, literally

I'm hoping he'll get a long monologue in which to explain his motivation at some point. Everyone else gets one. This would be a logical moment, but somehow I doubt we'll get to see the rest of this conversation.

And that's too bad, because I do think hipster fox deserves a fuck-you at this point. He created this prison. Cherry's at least getting out of it, or she was.

I do think there's parts of Greenie's motivation we aren't privy to yet.

It is possible he's just doing it because he knows how to live this life, so he can suceed at something familiar to survive.

Hmm...

I understand Leaf here. This ain't a charity, and if you lose it they lose you. He knows that you're not only dead out there, but as good as dead in here... because something will happen to you, and then you're out. Why care about anyone when that's everyone's fate? They did this to themselves, after all. This is survival.

It's a cold, calculating logic, but a logic. But this further illustrates that he's 'left' the brothel as well, like each girl so far. Only now he's come back and is tugging at the maze to meet his own ends. He's found escape through the capture of others.

The system chewed him up and spat him out. All that's left are biting jaws ready to do the same to others. He's the same as the worst parts of Fig.

I've said it before, but understanding usually takes charity.

And this is a nice page, lots more attention to dramatic lighting and expressions than the previous few. That second to last panel reminds me of: https://tommygunzrlz.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/eastwood.jpg

Zack, is this a story about you? Do we need to fund your patreon so that you can leave a brothel and work on your art? Blink twice for yes, and blink once for no...

Some people are like Acai, and see the abuse they suffer as a reason to be kind to others.

And others are like Greenie, who merely thinks the abuse was misplaced, and that he should be the one dishing it out.

I like the look Acai gives him. Like, 'who the shit are you'

@2 Sadly, I've met people like this before. They will directly tell you "its stupid to act kind towards people, the world is cruel and you need to be cruel towards it in retaliation." They don't care that they look like bad movie villains, they think everyone else is the same way but just pretending to be nice.
I doubt Greenie ever had empathy for others, even before his abuse. Despite everything that's happened to them, none of the other prostitutes we've seen have become as destructive towards people who have done nothing to them.

I also wonder that as he further declines if Fig will eventually turn against him. She's so isolated from him now that she's kept completely in the dark about the ways he's changed and what he's doing, but I know that she wouldn't stand for this kind of thing if she was aware of it. I wonder if Acai will tell her?
2 . by: December 28, 2016, 5:35 am

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around Greenie's motivations. As someone that has been in this position before, the complete destruction of his empathy and understanding is mind boggling. To heap the cruelty and subjugation that he has experienced before back onto others.. although I know that's how abuse often works, with victims of abuse turning into abusers themselves. But still, they don't usually have the level of self awareness he's displaying by acknowledging it as well as the pure, calculated intent.

He's just a mystery to me, and I'm interested in seeing his thought process unfold further.
